I cannot think of a better gift for a child or grandchild, from age 3 to 11. Much, much better than coloring books. This was one of my children's favorite activities (coloring with pens in these types of designs), and my grandchildren absolutely love them. I always bring a new book of designs when I visit (they fit easily in the bottom of the suitcase, too).

I got a kick out of reading the review that said this book is a great gift for kids, because that must mean that at the age of 43 I'm the biggest female kid of all! Since I became disabled; unable to continue working with Law Enforcement K9/Narcotics/Search & Rescue Units as a Pro Trainer/Handler of many years, due to a rare genetic disease that is crippling & very painful, I've gone back to art & crafting, among other old loves I didn't have time for often enough. I LOVE to draw & paint among many other crafty pursuits, and I was given the gift of some artistic talent, but sometimes I have trouble with my arms when I want to work on a painting or a sketch on the easel. Yet I still need my color/creative fix! ALL of the DOVER Books, especially the ones with Mandalas in them like this one, satisfy my "itch" for both color and creativity. There's another bigger bonus though! I've always been a Type A person; enjoyed doing physically challenging things like working with dogs, either training them or rehabilitating abused animals that have either crawled into a shell or become terribly aggressive fear biters. I was afraid I'd lose my mind to boredom before the disease/pain pushed me over the edge! Now, neither will happen because I can lose myself in coloring the designs in these books. I get lost in the designs! It's a form of visual meditation for me. Finished mandalas are a focal point for meditation, but nobody told me that CREATING these designs was very calming & healing all by itself! THANK YOU DOVER! Thanks MisterArt.com!

Great for older students, good variety of designs

I am trying to learn to draw, and I have invested in a set of colored pencils, as I enjoy color. However, I wasn't comfortable deciding on the colors for my projects. My brother suggested I try coloring to learn to use colors again, what a great idea. These books are perfect to use as practice when you need to try out your color sense again. I also enjoy the patterns, I don't have to lok at the mistakes I made!

I purchased the following Dover "Color Your Own" coloring books from MisterArt.com: Van Gogh Paintings, Modern Art Masterpieces, Matisse Paintings and 3-D Designs, plus more on the way! I am a 35 year old stay-at-home mom of 2 young children. After a long, long day, I find coloring to be very relaxing. The books that MisterArt.com offers are also challenging, so get yourself a very large box of Crayolas, sit down with a cup of coffee at the end of the day and relax. In order to introduce my 4 year old son to art, I cut out the pictures on the front and back pages of the coloring books, glued them onto 8-1/2x11 white posterboards and had them laminated at Kinko's. He now has something to look at in the car. In our home, we call these placemats, and we've done many. I also think coloring is a "girl thing" as my son has no interest in it, but family members continue to buy him coloring books. That's how I go into it a few months ago--coloring in the books he received, trying to get him interested, but coloring Spiderman or Blue's Clues wasn't for me. I will continue to purchase from MisterArt.com as no one out there offers these books. Plus, you can't beat the prices of the books or the shipping cost. I am very pleased with MisterArt.com and have voted for him on Bizrate as my favorite website. To all the moms out there ... after a 12+hour day of caring for children, give your mind a rest and color--these books are meant for us! Spend some money on yourself, buy 3 or 4 at a time and be creative. We will never run out of books to color with the selection that MisterArt.com offers. Enjoy & have fun--we deserve it!!

I bought 3 of these books for us to color at the firehouse. We love them, the pictures are challenging and it's amazing the different designs that different peoples see. Don't use ColorSharp markers... they bleed through. I wish there was just one design on a page to frame, and not designs both front and back. :)

My daughter spends hours coloring in her design books using gel pens. This is a great hobby, much better than spending hours watching the TV.

I have become addicted to coloring in these Dover books, and this is my favorite. Using pastel pencils, this is a very relaxing hobby.

Real nice 3-D art in the book! It has some mandalas, and is unusual in its designs. I like it a lot. Scanning it into the computer and working on it with Photoshop and Corel is real nice!
