I am a late Grandma Crab who has started painting in my 60's. I love the wildlife and National parks. My daughter who is a high school art teacher took this away before I could use it because it is so wonderful. What better recommendation. Guess I am gonna have to arm wrestle her to get it back. :)

I love this book. I own parrots, and of course I dcided to try to draw them(I'm a total beginner) I was so confused I gave up. Then I saw this book, and once again started drawing my birds. Someday, I'm sure you will even know they are birds, but-I have the feathers done correctly.

A nice overview of techniques from outstanding artists, but it's a bit too broad in most cases. By that I mean you won't learn the painting techniques used for the birds featured on the cover. Although there are few detailed explanations they are well done and make the book worth having. Despite my slight disappointment I still recommend it to anyone interested in painting believable fur and feathers.
