These short handled mop quill brushes are made from the finest quality, pure Russian blue squirrel hair. The naturally soft hairs are relatively thin, but have thick bellies, enabling these brushes to hold a large amount of color. At the same time, their extremely fine points allow for careful control and delicate responsiveness.

Each brush is attractively hand-crafted, with natural wood lacquered handles and goose quill ferrules, which are more responsive and flexible than metal ferrules. Perfect for both watercolor washes and fine detail work, Series 250 brushes are also useful for gouache, silk painting and any fluid color application.

I read about these brushes many years ago and started using them. I hardly use any other w/c brushes anymore and everyone I recommend them to says the same. Lots of color, lots of water, fine tips. Can fill large areas w/ color without edges.

Winsor Newton does it again with this versitle brush. Flowers with graceful edges appear effortlessly and the edges and flow naturally. This is my flower brush and is too soft for some applications. I will not part with it and it definately has a place. I have the huge #10-holds so much water & paint, works well on large peices-I use the other 2 smaller brushes more. I like them.

Well made brushes, extremely versatile. The smaller sizes make excellent detail brushes; the larger sizes keep a fine point for a long time and still provide very broad 'mop'-like wash. Good for field work because you can take fewer brushes.

This has become my favorite brush. I like the way this brush can go from extremely fine lines to thick tree trunk rectangles with just pressure. It really is thirsty and holds water and distributes paint evenly. I have two and plan to buy another.
