After long shifts at the hospital I find it very relaxing to paint. Fredrix archival stretched watercolor canvas is not only a great value but it makes even a novice like me look good. The colors just pop off the canvas. I will continue to buy this product. Thanks MisterArt.com for carrying such wonderful and affordable products.

A great new experience. Didn't like the look of a color, washed it off and canvas was ready to start over. Takes a little getting used to because brush strokes are different looking than on paper.

The canvas is absolutely fantastic and the results stunning for watercolor. It didn't matter which method I used wet on wet, wet on dry, they all turned out beautifully and the ease of making corrections to my paintings was outstanding. There is a definite difference in color; the canvas makes the watercolors brighter and more stunning. Wish the product had come sooner!

This canvas is of the highest quality -- as is the service and packaging from MisterArt! This sort of customer care alone can inspire art.

A canvas that takes watercolor can be finicky at best. This one isn't. The surface is smooth and consistant and absorbent but not spongey

If watercolor is not your strongest medium, I don't recommend using this canvas. I really struggled trying to create a glazed effect which would have been simple on more traditional paper. The canvas does not absorb much of the paint or water and makes creating layers a chore. I did find that using methods like adding salt or splashing water into a painted area and leaving it to dry left very nice effects that remained after painting over it. However, I ended up turning my painting into a mixed media piece and will use the remaining canvas for this purpose. It holds layers and layers of thin applications of pastel over top of the watercolor painting very well. It also works well with gouache because the gouache is opaque and heavier and absorbs easier. I didn't like it at all with acrylic paint because it didn't seem any different than painting on a more traditional canvas.

This is an exciting breakthrough in watercolor type supports. I have painted on this canvas successfully with watercolors and acrylics. The main advantages, as stipulated in the ad, are that you can frame your work without glass and many pigments lift easily. But please be aware of these exceptions: 1. Watercolor staining pigments do not easily lift completely, if ever completely. 2. Non staining pigments, in particular, can lift when you do not want them to, especially if you linger too long in a specific area. 3. This canvas is not watercolor paper, so expect some differences: Particularly, washes are not as smooth, that is the paint does not flow as easily across an area to produce a smooth and consistent application. And, although I have not tried it yet, the reviewer who recommends ox gall to aid with washes in large areas is likely right. On the positive side, the canvas takes color beautifully, especially in smaller areas. Wet-in-wet is almost as good as Arches. And the surface is exceptionally hardy. You can scrub and then paint without blemishes. Also, acrylics work very well on this canvas. You can paint multiple glazes without fear of lifting. You can go from pure watercolor effects to translucent and opaque in seconds; and done well, it will all look perfectly natural and harmonious. If you can live with the exceptions mentioned above, certainly try it. I can promise a unique painting experience.

These are terrific. Don't know if I will ever go back to watercolor paper after using these stretched canvases. They never buckle, hold colors very well, can lift colors easily and just the fact that I don't need to frame them is a thrill for me...saving time, effort and money. Speaking of money... I love MisterArt.com's great pricing...can't beat it anywhere else that I know of and customer service is terrific too. I just happened on this great online art supplier and hope many others do the same.I'm most appreciative and will be making orders for many years to come...as a VIP member too.

I am so glad I discovered the watercolor canvas from MisterArt.com. I don't use anything else since I found this. I do not use watercolors only acrylics and this canvas gives the acrylics a much softer look and makes them much easier to work with and makes blending easier. My work has a whole new look now!

This is an exciting breakthrough for watercolor artists. The surface is smooth, easy to work. Watercolorists might find ox gall usually to get a nice smooth wash for larger areas. It is fun to paint on, but does lift easy. A little acrylic matte medium can help with that. This surface is much easier and cleaner to work with than other watercolor hard board type of supports. A real treat!
