Ceramic Spray Sealersby Duncan
Ceramic Spray Sealers are final spray coatings that produce smooth, hard surfaces. They are used to brighten the colors and protect the finishes of objects decorated with nonfired color products.
Super Gloss produces an extremely lustrous, smooth and hard final finish. This sealer provides the glossiest possible spray finish over both water-based and oil-based nonfired colors.
Clear Gloss produces a protective, clear gloss finish on ceramic bisque, plaster, and many other craft surfaces. It can be used under, over and between Duncan nonfired colors. To maintain a bright acrylic basecoat, spray on a coat before antiquing.
Clear Matte produces a protective, satin-matte finish on ceramic bisque, plaster, and many other craft surfaces. It can be used under, over and between Duncan nonfired colors. To maintain a bright acrylic basecoat, spray on a coat before antiquing.
Porcelain Spray produces he look and feel of fine porcelain bisque when applied over a fired glaze or Prep-Coat. Porcelain Spray is especially well suited as a final finish over drybrushed items. It can be used under, over and between nonfired colors.
Super Matte produces a smooth, even, flat-matte finish on nonfired acrylic and translucent colors, particularly on realistic animal figurines. It slightly softens underlying colors and provides a shine-free protective surface. Can I use this on fired pieces? - Asked by L L Shanahan on 01-Jun-14
Answer
This product may be applied to bisqueware that has been painted with nonfired colors. If the piece has been glazed, it will no longer have a porous surface, and the spray sealer will not be able to adhere properly. - Answered by MisterArt on 06-Jun-14My spray is clogged. How can I get it to work? - Asked by Julie Turrie on 28-Apr-14
Answer
Buy a replacement nozzle such as Standard Spray Accessories Nozzle by Liquitex. - Answered by MisterArt on 29-Apr-14Do I apply the spray finish before I antique a plaster craft piece? - Asked by Jack on 11-Apr-14
Answer
The Duncan Spray Sealers are a final spray coating and should be applied after you have completed your project. Apply any antiquing technique first. - Answered by MisterArt on 15-Apr-14Will this work as an undercoat? - Asked by sue on 27-Mar-14
Answer
The Ceramic Spray Sealer is a final spray coating. This should not be used as an undercoat. - Answered by MisterArt on 02-Apr-14I'm looking for a protective matte spray to use over my mid-fire porcelain mini-dish. Which of your matte sprays do you recommend? - Asked by Grace on 07-Mar-13
Answer
You can use either the Duncan Super Matte or the Duncan Clear Matte if the surface of the porcelain has been painted with an acrylic-based paint. - Answered by MisterArt on 15-Mar-13I've sprayed my ceramic piece with Duncan Clear Matte. The problem is that the sealer was too old so it became glossy instead of matte. How can I remove it or at least reduce it to a matte finish? - Asked by Pierre on 02-Mar-13
Answer
The Ceramic sealers are permanent once applied. By using a remover, it may ruin your ceramic piece. If the spray is old or defective, we would suggest returning the product back to the store you purchased it from. There is no product that will make the sealer workable again. - Answered by MisterArt on 07-Mar-13Is there any way I can paint on bathroom tiles and then spray or brush on a glaze to lock in the paint so it doesn't wash off? - Asked by Tracy Tartaglione on 25-Feb-13
Answer
Since the tiles have already been glazed and sealed, the paint will not adhere to the surface of the tiles. You would need to apply a primer to strip the surface of the tile first. You may also have to sand the surface as well. Once this has been done, you can apply a paint to it. You can use the Delta air dry perm-enamel paints or the Liquitex Glosses paints. - Answered by MisterArt on 26-Feb-13I chalk a lot of ceramics and I need a matte spray in between each chalk application. Will this work in this application? - Asked by Priscilla T. on 04-Jan-13
Answer
We would suggest using the Spray Workable Fixatif by Krylon or the Very Low Odor Spray Fix by Blair for your use. - Answered by MisterArt on 07-Jan-13Will this product seal a coffee cup that I designed with DecoColor Paint Marker? - Asked by Cristina on 13-Dec-12
