Product Questions and Answers

Ask a Question
Ask a Question

What is the firing range for these glazes before they start to lose color?

- Asked by Patrick on 06-Jan-14
Answer

Concept Underglazes are usually fired at cone 06. Some colors may fade at cone 5-6, and it is recommended to create a test fire piece as results of high fire application may vary.

- Answered by MisterArt on 09-Jan-14

Is this product good for cone 4 through 6?

- Asked by Edward on 27-Nov-13

Yes, exactly.

- Answered by MisterArt on 27-Nov-13

Can two Concepts underglazes be mixed together?

- Asked by Lisa on 10-Nov-13

Duncan Concepts can be mixed.

- Answered by MisterArt on 11-Nov-13

Can one color be painted over another?

- Asked by Kathleen on 26-May-13
Answer

Duncan Concepts can be layered.

- Answered by MisterArt on 28-May-13

Do you apply the Duncan underglaze directly to the bisqueware or greenware?

- Asked by Linda on 28-Nov-12
Answer

The Concept Underglazes are for use on bisque. For greenware, you would use the Duncan Cover-Coat Opaque Underglazes or the Duncan Premixed E-Z Stroke Translucent Underglazes.

- Answered by MisterArt on 29-Nov-12

After applying the underglaze, what product do you recommend to place as a coat over the underglaze?

- Asked by Linda on 28-Nov-12
Answer

For bisque, after you have applied the underglaze, you can use the Envision glaze, Satin glazes, Crackles glaze, or the French Dimensions glaze (all fire to shelf cone 06). For greenware, you can use Cover-Coat or other E-Z Stroke colors. E-Z Strokes work well with high fire, cone 5-6 and some to cone 10. As high results vary, we recommend firing a test piece.

Love Duncan concepts underglaze in all colors!! Vivid, bright, clear firing. Easy coverage.

I've used both the Mayco Stroke & Coat underglazes and Duncan Concepts. While I think they both "behave" similarly, there is just no question that the Concept colors are so much richer! I'm a "Fall" colors person - in my opinion, the Saffrons, Butternuts, Papayas and Gingers have no equal in the Mayco Stroke & Coat colors. I wish MisterArt.com sold the colors in the 8 oz. size!

This underglaze is the best! You can get solids, watercolor effects, mix colors... The really red is REALLY red-- not rust or reddish. I wish they carried the bigger bottles.

Fast service. Will do business with MisterArt.com in the future for sure. A++++++

Great range of colors, easy to use. One coat for a touch of color, or three to make it vibrant. Great control when layering colors.

Having a wide range of colors to choice from means alot to me, these are so easy to use, great for detail work plus water clean up..must use 3 clear coats of glaze over top...wonderful underglazes.
Rated by: pattie h. in inlet, NY
It is indeed wonderful to be able to use the concepts underglazes and get such rich vibrant colors. The new "very red" is awesome, and believe it or not, very red, even at a cone 5 firing! It's so nice to offer students an underglaze that is easy to work with and they can see the actual color that they are going to get. thank you.

Colors are rich, vibrant. A bit time consuming on a large piece with 3 coat application. But the results are worth every coat. 1 3oz bottle goes along way.
Rated by: Lisa M. in Tracy, CA
This underglaze appears close to it's final color. This makes it easier for students to select their color schemes, etc. Makes great vibrant colors!
