Reflective Beads

by Rolco

Glass spheres with silane-type adherence coating for application as a reflectorizing material for signs, traffic paint, and safety striping. Tiny glass spheres that may be added in paint is a green tint look. The spheres can also be utilized as a smalt, paint thickener and as a paint grit. Bead diameter is 53 microns (.0021 inches).

Application: After the paint is applied and is still wet, the beads should be sifted on by means of a strainer or coffee can with punched holes of approximately 1/8 inch. Prior to placing the beads into the sifter, cover the openings by means of a cardboard piece or the plastic coffee can cover. Hold the sifter over the painted surface and remove the cover. Sift on the beads in a good layer. The excess that doesn't adhere to the paint after it has dried completely can be either swept up or dumped onto a cloth and returned to the container for future use.

We won a big contract to make neighborhood signs in a local city. They wanted the neighborhood names to be reflective. We found a reflective paint maker but the cost was outrageous. I found the reflective beads and they work great. On the last coat of paint on each letter I pinch some beads and sprinkle them over the letters and they adhere very well. The other positive is they are very inexpensive but the downside is the shipping costs as much as the product. Luckily I can order as many cans as I think I will need and the shipping per unit is lower.

When I asked for reflective paint in paint stores, they didn't have a clue! They kept asking what color I wanted, as if I meant fluorescent paint. I used the glass beads to restore a street sign my late mother-in-law gave us. They worked perfectly. I used a salt shaker to apply the beads to the wet paint on the numbers. I'm happy with the results! Thanks!

No big box store could help me find reflective paint (some didn't even know what I wanted...) for steps my elderly parents use at night. Not only did your beads work beautifully with white paint, they arrived in only two days. Thank you so much!

Great product! use a salt shaker and sprinkle it on. I used it on my curb to "back-light" our street address - cool!

I thought it would be easy to find reflective paint at a hardware or craft store but I was wrong. I wanted reflective paint to help make a hand carved wood sign more visible. This product was reasonably priced (though the shipping cost was almost as much as the product!). I thought you could mix it with the paint but it didn't look like it would be too reflective, so I used more to sprinkle on the top. It works great! A little went a long way and I have plenty left over for my next project.

I found the Rolco beads to be perfect for getting a bright reflective sign. After some experimentation I found the best way to use them was to use a slow drying paint and with a table salt shaker you could apply the bead evenly.I finished my signs with a cross coat of clear which completed the process nicely.

If you are trying to make a business sign and want a lot of attention without the high cost, using these beads makes a world of difference!

If you want to highlight you street address so visitors and emergency services can find you fast. Nothing does the job better than using reflective paint beads mixed in a cup of white paint. Mix what you need and sprinkle a little on the wet surface. You'll be the envy of your neighborhood.

I ws looking for reflective paint to use to restore a vintage license plate. I called paint stores and art stores and no one could help. Then I came across your site on a search and didn't realize that the beads were something you buy and add to the paint! Glad you were there!

these work great. however, i was having adhesion trouble and so i varnished over them to adhere them to an outdoor sign. they no longer reflect. so, i'm still trying to figure out how to get them to last in an outdoor environment (epoxy?) and reflect as gloriously as they first did.
