Use with metallic surfacers to achieve your desired antique finish on any paintable surface. Instant rust works with the Instant Iron surfacer. Burgundy tint and black tint work with any of the other surfacers (blonde bronze, blackened bronze, copper, and gold). These antiquing solutions can also be used directly on metal surfaces to create desired effects.

Modern Options Antiquing Solutions come in 4 oz. and 8 oz. bottles.

Instant Rust works great in conjunction with Instant Iron to produce the realistic appearance and feel of rust. I was trying to rust a flat, metal surface. I used a sponge and small paintbrush for corners and edges, and used one thick coat of Instant Iron then two light coats of Instant Rust, waiting a day between each coat. Now it looks like this metal has been exposed to the elements for 20 years. Great product that's easy to use.

I used these products to do 2 walls in my home and they turned out wonderful. The process was very time consuming but the outcome was well worth it. The only complaint I have is that the bottles come in such small sizes. I had to buy 8 bottles to do my 2 walls. How about selling it in larger containers?

Really like both the iron surfacer and the antiquing solution, but it'd be great if there were an iron surfacer extender solution (it can't be thinned) or the iron surfacer came in widemouth jars, not bottles. It's very viscous and must be well mixed. But a great product, and I used it on paper and wood. I'm going to buy more right now.

We used the Instant Iron in conjunction with the Instant Rust to rust our wooden fireplace. It came out wonderfully. However, be sure of the quantity of Instant Iron you need. One coat coverage works fine, but we had to order a couple bottles when the 8oz size covered less area than expected. The Instant Rust product worked brilliantly. And if the finish isn't rusty enough, you can re-apply & get increasing amounts of rust (in a lighter color). The Instant Rust covers a much larger area than the Instant Iron.
