I was introduced to this product in a polymer clay class. It really does give the items a "smooth, glass-like surface" and with less effort than the auto body sandpaper I previously used.

The Mona Lisa company had me in mind when they created their sanding products. I realize these products can be used on a number of projects, furniture refinishing, wood projects, plastics, resins etc. But I am a handbuild in stoneware clay - so thats what I use their products on. I dont paint a piece of work until I have smoothed the piece to satisfaction with Mona Lisa sanding products. I use them all! The little disk has two sides - a rough and tough side that can smooth out sharp edges, and when you are dealing with fired clay those sharp edges are tough as steel. Then the disc has a reverse side that finely polishes - I mean to tell you with hardly any effort this smooth side of the sander can turn the roughest of clay into a velvet smoothness - a pleasure to handle! The white velum looking 'sand paper' is a great tool as well - it also gives that smooth as glass feeling to stoneware and you can even use it to polish out stilt marks after youve completed the glaze firing of your product. its so gentle it doesnt damage the enamel glaze. Mona Lisa has this steel wool that is fantastic on greenware as well. I could go on and on. Try them out - you will be pleased you did.
