Inktense Blocks sets

by Derwent

Derwent Intense Blocks increase the range of possibilities in which an artist can use the Inktense line of products. Use dry for intense colour, or create vibrant colour washes that leave translucent ink-like effects. Once dry, the colour wash is permanent and can be washed over with other media, wet or dry.

The set of 12 includes one each of the colors Sun Yellow, Tangerine, Poppy Red, Fuchsia, Deep Indigo, Sea Blue, Teal Green, Apple Green, Leaf Green, Baked Earth, Bark, and Ink Black.

The set of 24 includes one each of the colors Sun Yellow, Sherbet Lemon, Tangerine, Poppy Red, Chilli Red, Shiraz, Fuchsia, Violet, Iris Blue, Bright Blue, Deep Indigo, Sea Blue, Teal Green, Ionian Green, Apple Green, Field Green, Leaf Green, Mustard, Baked Earth, Willow, Bark, Charcoal Grey, Ink Black, and Antique White.

The set of 36 includes all the colors of the 24 color set, plus Sienna Gold, Red Violet, Cherry, Mauve, Peacock Blue, Iron Blue, Turquoise, Iron Green, Felt Green, Tan, Saddle Brown, and Indian Ink.

The set of 72 includes all the colors of the 36 color set, plus Cadmium Yellow, Sicilian Yellow, Golden Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Burnt Orange, Mid Vermillion, Scarlet Pink, Hot Red, Carmine Pink, Crimson, Deep Rose, Thistle, Dusky Purple, Dark Purple, Deep Violet, Lagoon, Navy Blue, Deep Blue, Dark Aquamarine, Green Aquamarine, Mallard Green, Vivid Green, Beech Green, Hooker's Green, Light Olive, Spring Green, Fern, Amber, Oak, Red Oxide, Madder Brown, Dark Chocolate, Sepia ink, Chinese Ink, Payne's Grey, and Neutral Grey.

My experimenting has just begun. I have found the colors lovely, dry and wet. They are versatile and only wish the colors in the set had a greater variety.

Ask a Question
Ask a Question

How do they adhere to nonporous surfaces?

- Asked by L.G. on 17-Oct-12

The Derwent Inktense Blocks are primarily used with water on porous surfaces (paper, canvas, etc.). One could possibly use them on non-porous surfaces, but how well the product would adhere depends on how much tooth the artist gives the material, such as sanding glass, for example.

Be careful! They are soft and break easily. Just handle with care.
