As an Architect Student, I need tools that are solid, built to last and make my work more efficient. This ruler really comes in handy in any project weather they are scale drawings or just plain drawings. Fantastic scale! Its almost impossible to chip, and the divisions are easy to read. The only improvement you could want is for the 16th inch scale to be labeled by feet and not by inches. I was tired of struggling to read my plastic scales aftter they chipped and the ticking wore off from use, this is defenitly an improvement and vital tool for any student!

Excellent quality at an excellent price.

There is no denying this scale has the best feeling and made of the nicest material you can find. The burnished aluminum surface and it's generous heft make it a delight to use. It's like a piece of art. Notwithstanding, it's made in El Salvador (my wife's home country) but it looks like it was made in the Ferrari factory in Italy. It really is _that_ nice. The ONLY reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I calibrated it against another measuring tool and it is off by a couple one-hundreths of an inch on the 16 rule. I didn't calibrate all the rules, but being a hair off is in-excusable for an instrument of this otherwise exceptional quality. The numbers and gradations are printed, rather than laser etched, so they might even wear or rub off after about 10 centuries. But, no other scale even comes close in quality. I'd bet the plastic ones are probably off by a few hundreths as well.
