I have always used Higgins ink for all my calligraphy work...wouldn't use any thing else.

This is a very thick, very opaque ink. It is thicker than both Winsor & Newton and Speedball inks. I tried it only with a fine point pen, and had some trouble controlling the flow. Because the ink is so thick, it gets used up pretty quickly. I would not recommend this as the first choice of ink for those who are cash-strapped.
