A useful device for drawing lettering guidelines. Has metric calibrations ranging from 2 to 10 millimeters and 3 standard lettering heights in U. S. drawings (3.08, 6.1, 9.75mm) specifically indicated. Sides are at 68 for drawing guidelines for slanted letters and 90 for drawing guide lines for vertical lettering. Directions included.

This would be great if it came with an instruction guide that actually explained all of the little circles. But most likely you will have a professor that actually know how to use it.

I've been using the Ames guide for 40+ years. It is a must have for anyone who needs a precision, adjustable tool for creating parallel lines for lettering, or for art, as I am using it now. I do Celtic Art, and this is a great helper for doing large areas of evenly spaced lines, to be filled and joined later as the design progresses. I was so happy to discover this old friend in your store! I had lost mine! :)

This guide is a calligrapher's dream- nice neat even lines without wasting time measuring line spacings with a ruler. A plus for those doing work for living history groups like the SCA. Very versatile and easy to use.

We used this lettering guide at Pratt back when architects hand lettered their hand drawings. Place your pencil point in one of the circles on the AMES and slide the guide to your right along any straight edged surface--then move the pencil point to a nearby circle and slide the guide back to your left. It's quick and simple. Indispensable for hand lettering and for art with a repeating structure. A most useful tool. HARD TO FIND.

A simple, reliable classic. There are probably other, maybe more effective devices out there, but none as versitle, portable and design-perfect as this.
