I tried these along with two other sets, because I've heard rave reviews about Prismacolor.. I was pretty disappointed with these pencils, even the inexpensive Crayola perform better than these. Wouldn't recommend unless you're doing something specific that doesn't require a lot of brightness in the colors.

I think these are great pencils and I sharpen mines with a X-Acto blade. It's easier to get a sharp point without breakage. The only problem I had was the fact that when I received them, the black colored pencil had no lead inside the wood. I could literally blow through the pencil. Hopefully next time that won't happen.

Alright but not the best. I wasn't too pleased. I know they're supposed to be "hard" but they leave dents all over the paper when you try to get the right texture. I don't even recomend it for outlining because you'll get a dent around your whole picture.

I do have to agree with some of the previous reviews...the tips on these pencils do break often when sharpened. I've tried 5 different sharpeners now with the same result. I do love them for outlining some of my work though. They provide nice, crisp lines, but I wouldn't recommend this particular set for any fill-in work.

I purchased these to try out a few months ago. I wasn't too pleased with them. You run out of lead really fast unlike prismacolor's premier pencils. I've had several of my lead break as well. You cannot get a smooth finish. When you try to make it bold and filling you are able to see the pencil streaks easily. They would be best for outlining or filling in small letters but nothing bigger than that.

For the price I feel they should not break so often when I try to sharpen them. I even have the Prismacolor sharpener and the end still breaks off way too often. Very frustrating. They color very good though.

I love the smooth and sharp lines you get with the Prismacolor Verithins. They keep their point for a long time and their color is great!

These pencils are great for detail work and mixed media. A must-have for anyone who loves to draw!

These Verithin pencils are an excellent edition to any artists tools. They provide that extra detail, not found with other colored pencils.

Used in combination with the standard Berol Prismacolor Colored Pencils these a a fantastic asset to any artist's tool box. Harder and more resilient than standard Prismas they are great for edge work and fine detail. They sharpen to a super fine point.
Rated by: X. Z. in Syracuse, NY
The Verithin pencils are harder and easier to sharpen than the regular Prismacolors, which I use for most of the drawing. They are very useful for doing details and edge work. I did not like solely using them on an entire drawing. I would recommend getting both the Verithin and Prismacolor pencils if you are buying colored pencils. This was part of my first order from MisterArt.com; They shipped it out the same day and I received my products just a few days later. I will be shopping again soon!
