This is a wonderful product in value and quality. I have the student model and I can only insert the lead through its point. You are not able to insert the lead from the top since you can't remove the cap.

This is my favorite lead holder. I use two with different leads usually 2B and H. These are all I need to carry for sketching anywhere. The built in sharpener saves huge amounts of lead versus sharpening a normal pencil. No waste.

I didn't want a cheap quality so i purchased the professional. I am very happy with it, so far it works great. Grips well and adjusting the lead is nice and smooth, which i do a lot for I use it heavily and i need a very sharp point so i am always sharpening it. I like the way this clamps the lead better then the standard clutch pencil grips, and much cheaper then that type too. Great value, great price

Great lead holder! The it is essentially a fancy mechanical pencil makes it very easy to work with. It's also really easy to load and change out leads.

I use lead holders instead of traditional pencils for my sketches because they keep their balance over time and are easier to sharpen. This one has the closest balance to a real pencil. I bought several professional quality ones and love them. However, I do have a serious issue with their build quality. Like another reviewer mentioned the plastic shaft is prone to break off when advancing the lead, and the spring tension is unusually high. I still give it a 5 rating because nothing quite feels quite as good in my hand.

An excellent value for a hobbyist like me. The built-in pointer is extremely handy. My only complaint is they're weighted a little top-heavy.

Great pencils. 4438 has a tendency to break where the metal grip meets the plastic tube, but is easily fixed with super glue. 4439 imho, is easier to write with b/c of it's lighter weight.

I purchased two of the 4438 holders and they arrived promptly, there is no fancy packaging so they came in bubblewrap. I like the extended finger grip and the fact that it works like a mechanical pencil instead of a standard lead holder, also the sharpener works quite nicely. Those three qualities earned it four stars from me, without them I would have given it three. The quality seems average and the push button tension feels unusually high, in fact when I advanced the lead in one of the pencils the base of the finger grip seperated from the shaft and I had to glue them back together (I didn't find it worth the shipping cost to have it replaced.) Overall it's a decent tool, definitely worth the very reasonable price.

TACRO IS THE BEST LEADHOLDER I HAVE FOUND. IT OPERATES LIKE A MECHANICAL PENCIL AND THE LEAD WON'T FALL OUT.

Wonderful lead holder, quite unbelievable for the price. It has a decent built in sharpener, the lead won't fall out ie. it works like a drafting pencil. No Problems!

These Tacro lead holders are great! Lead advance like a standard mechanical pencil - absolutely no need to worry about the lead falling out or advancing excessively. Handy cap - built-in lead pointer is a clever add-on. One of my favorites! . . .

Great lead holder. Holds lead fast and won't let the lead spin when you sharpen. Automatic lead feed keeps lead from falling out. Great features at a very low price.

25 years ago, I used 2mm lead holders when I was in drafting. This lead holders are far superior to anything I used back then. They feel nice and light in my hand. The clutch advance is really neat.

I purchased both the student and the professional. Really prefer the student. It is easier to change the lead and easier to get that long point when you need it.
