I am from the other side of the world and wanted my kids to know both where we are living currently (ie the US map) and where we come from (ie the world map). The maps are on the wall in their play room and are great to show them places they are interested in.

I bought the United States map, and found it to be a colorful yet cheap way to decorate my children's room. My daughter often asks about her relatives who live far away, and this makes it fun to show her where they are. I also enjoy being able to look up places from time to time.
