Watercolor Paperby Arches ![]()
This 100% rag, water-marked watercolor paper is mould-made in France. The sheets are hand inspected for consistency and quality in surface, texture, and performance.
Because the paper has been sized both in the beater and again after the sheet has been formed, repeated erasures can be done without any feathering.
Special felts give a handsome grain finish to the cold pressed paper. Hot pressed sheets have a consistently smooth surface.
All sheets have four deckle edges.

Answer
This will always depend on your preferences, but we recommend Winsor and Newton Art Masking Fluid. - Answered by MisterArt on 02-Sep-13What is 1114 lb cold press watercolor paper? Is this the same as 140? - Asked by Susan Hebert on 04-Feb-13
Answer
Cold press is the process of pressing paper through rollers at the end of papermaking. This will smooth the surface for printing and writing but still leaves some texture. The weight of the paper in pounds refers to the thickness of paper based on 500 sheets of paper. So 1114 lb cold press would be much heavier than 140 lb cold press paper, and heavier normally means a higher quality when it comes to watercolor paper specifically. - Answered by MisterArt on 05-Feb-13I drew on the back of Arches watercolor paper before I stretched it. Do I have to start again? - Asked by Sandy on 20-Jan-13
Answer
I don't think you need to start over, but it depends on how your drew on it. The 140-pound paper should be stretched before you draw or paint on it. Heavier papers don't normally need to be stretched, but people do stretch them. - Answered by MisterArt on 24-Jan-13Ask a Question About Watercolor Paper
