a nice book but I was expecting a smooth cover--i had wanted to paint the cover and the cobbled cover makes this difficult

This type of book is what most art teachers prefer for students. It is a value for the novice artist. The paper is perfect for charcoal and pencil drawings. It is also perfect to take on location, it is light enough to comfortably be taken in a carry-all or suitcase.
