FW Artists' Ink

FW Artists' Ink is an acrylic based pigmented water resistant ink in a range of 30 colors, 29 of which have a four star permanence rating, and the thirtieth a three star rating. Such a high degree of lightfastness over such a range of fully intermixable colors makes them ideal for use by artists in the production of pictures for permanent display. Inks are strong and rugged, and work well through airbrushes and technical pens. Available in 1 oz. bottles. A 6 oz. bottle of black ink is also available.

I've been using FW for 20+ years and NEVER had a problem with it...Till now. The new formula that came out this year has a permanence rating of 3 stars( the older version had 4 stars) and is no longer considered an "india" ink or calls itself "Opaque"...needless to say, it also bleeds when washed over, meaning its about as waterproof as a childs Crayola marker...stay away from the new FW and find a better opaque ink if you do a lot of B&W work.

This ink is genuinely black, unlike most competitors. Viscosity is medium, excellent for both tight & loose pen work. Very important, this ink works on mylar & denril & is reasonably opaque on them. I do wish DR would make it more available in 8-oz. bottles. Strongly recommended for the professional.

Very opaque and thick ink, quick-drying as well. The colors are beautiful. The white ink is the best in the world, for black ink buy DR.PH.Martin's bombay indian ink, I think it is better.

Daler-Rowney FW Artists' Inks are the best!! I use an Iwata HP-C Airbrush, I use the inks to paint Custom Halloweeen Masks, they work great, now I won't use any other Paints in my Airbrush. When I opened my first Order some of the bottles were leaking, I called your Customer Service and they immediatly sent out replacements.Your company has Great customer service and I will definitely order from Misterart.com again in the future. Your Prices are unmatched, I became a VIP member and the savings are Great!!

The color selection of these inks are great. I love the way the tops are made because they are very easy to use. Some colors do seperate when they have been sitting around. Also, they dried almost too quickly to be put in my converter in my calligraphy pens and gunked them up. The white was very nice for using to blend and lighten other colors when mixing inks to match.

Very nice inks. The white was marvelous for my purpose, which was to paint and letter opaquely on a very dark paper. One coat gave a nice subtle line; two coats made it completely opaque. I was hoping the burnt umber color would be both darker and more opaque, though. Still, a very nice medium-dark brown ink.

Daler-Rowney inks are excellent quality opaque inks. I use them for pen and ink drawings of wildlife and other nature pictures and they have a beautiful bold quality that retains its color for many years. I have one bluebird painting that is more than 12 years old and it hasn't faded whatsoever. These inks are also easily mixable to create many shades.

I recently took an acrylic class and the instructor sold me on the Daler-Rowney FW Artists Ink once I was able to see what a magnificent difference it made to my art work. Excellent product.

I'm a freelance illustrator with almost 30 years of inking experience. FW Acrylic is the only ink available in North America that is still black and properly dense. It's middle-of-the-road viscosity allows it to move off of nibs and brushes at a controllable speed, w/o dumping suddenly or clinging too much. It's perfect for full-blown, very tight cross-hatching. And it sticks to denril & synthetic vellums.
