Graphitint Pencils

Derwint Graphitint Pencils combine a subtle hint of color with the soft gray tones of graphite, providing a totally unique drawing effect. These pencils provide a smooth, rich color lay down, and they can be blended together to produce a nearly endless array of deep, expressive hues.

Graphitint pencils are water-soluble. When dry, they offer the merest suggestion of color. When water is added, their color becomes more vibrant. Their color can also be lightened or lifted with a soft eraser or wet brush.

The set of 12 pencils contains: port, dark indigo, aubergine, slate green, chestnut, ivy, cool brown, cocoa, storm, midnight black, cloud grey, and cool grey.

The set of 24 pencils includes: port, juniper, aubergine, dark indigo, shadow, steel blue, ocean blue, slate green, green grey, meadow, ivy, sage, chestnut, russet, cool brown, cocoa, autumn brown, storm, warm grey, midnight black, mountain grey, cloud grey, cool grey and white.

Very cool pencils. Derwent makes great stuff. MisterArt has the big 24 set that most craft stores don't carry, yet. They also have better prices on pretty much everything!

These pencils are lovely to work with -nice soft feel, no grit, but a very limited palette which works for them if you let it. Hard to erase however. Plan your drawing in graphite first. No yellows available.

Excellent muted colors not available elsewhere. Water soluble quality a real plus, wet colors very beautiful. Prefer 24 pencils, wish there were more. Pencils have rich texture and are a pleasure to draw with, in an attractive and convenient metal container.

Got the set of 24 and took it on an airplane trip to test them. It was fun to experiment with this assortment of earth tones and cool green and blue greys sketching in dry form, and then watch the brighter colors emerge when touched with a Pentel waterbrush. A wider palette might be nice (like some more yellow and red tones), but they still work well with other water-based media like Faber Castell aquarelle sticks, watercolor pans and pencils. In short, they proved to be a nice addition to my sketching tools.
