Best gesso on the market period. Thick body right out of the jar and thinning it down to a wash is easy and quick. I even use it for value changes in my mixes...substituting ti. white in a pinch....been using this product for 8 years. MisterArt.com's service was fast and easy....both are highly recommended!

I started painting about 6 months ago with acrylic paints. When i switched to the GRUMBACHER gesso I was able to blend colors just you like you can using oils. Great stuff!

Grumabacher Gesso is the cream of the crop. I've used at least 3 or 4 others and the Grumbacher just sets up better, goes on better, sands down better..it's just better. Maybe due to the chalk in it. And Mister Art is the only retailer I found that has it on line.

I ordered this Gesso because it was mentioned in a Jerry Yarnell learn to paint book. I already had a more liquid kind. I love this product. Just choosing a color and then tinting it and brushing it on a canvas board gives me inspiration. Sometimes some of that "prime" coat is left to show through, sometimes it isn't, but it is always a pleasure to use, and it makes a wonderful surface for painting.

Way back in 1976, I read Richard Schmid's book on landscape paintning and so began to use gesso to prepare boards and canvas. It is the greatest thing since fudge! I have not used any other and could not be more happy to recommend it to anyone whether beginner or professional.

I use gesso not only to undercoat my canvas but also instead of the color white. Grumbacher is nice and thick, can be thinned w/water just like my other acrylic paints. Grumbacher brand is hard to find. I got a quart for what I usually pay for a pint! Thanks Mr. Art!

Grumbacher Acrylic Gesso is definitely the ultimate Gesso for Oils and Acrylics. It has better tooth than any other product that I have tried. I've tried Blick's Gesso, da Vinci's, and Grumbacher. I'd say my #1 choice is Grumbacher followed by da Vinci.

I use this product because it contains marble dust (calcium carbonate) which allows me to apply several coats, sanding in between, to achieve an extremely smooth surface on the canvas, which allows me to create extensive detail in a painting.

I have used various brands of gesso and I find the Grumbacher brand very good. The consistancy is thick and very smooth.

This is an excellent product, great for blending large areas of a canvas. Creamy and smooth it is excellent when used to opaque transparent colors such as Ultramarine Blue.

you are the master of gessos! when you first open the can it looks so thick...but then use it and love how thick it is. it's perfect for priming your canvas. solid. love it! it's worth the money.

This is the only gesso I use, because it is so thick and creamy. Goes onto the canvas very well, and is great for blending.

Just a fantastic product! I find many uses beyond priming. From texturing to an opaque blending medium it really fulfills all the roles. I really helps to make my painting sessions easier and more enjoyable. I would be lost without it. Thanks Grumbacher for such a wonderful product.

This is the best Gesso I have ever used. I began using it about 6 months ago when it was recommended by Jerry Yarnell. In addition to using it to prep canvas, he uses it as his "white" paint due to its opacity. Jerry says he's tried all brands and Grumbacher is the best. After using it myself, I'm sold and will never use any other kind.

Absolutely THE BEST!!! Learned many + uses for it from Jerry Yarnell's PBS teachings. I usually use it in place of white paints & to paint in acrylics in the method used by Bob Ross's paintings in oil. Keeping the canvas wet, apply the gesso and spray it occassionally to keep it wet and workable. You can thus paint "wet on wet" with acrylics and blend as easy as done with oil paints! And, for some reason, few art supplyers carry this brand of gesso. I am grateful that Mister Art does. for it is much thicker than other brands I've tried!

I had used the more liquid type of gesso. The switch to GRUMBACHER GESSO HAS BEEN WELL WORTH THE PRICE! The creamy, buttery texture gives me so much more control in my painting.

I use gesso instead of titanium white when painting with acrylics. It is opaque and even a little goes a long way in terms of opacity. This is the best gesso that I have found when using it in this manner. This gesso is very firm and it works beautifully. Most gessoes are more liquid and don't work as well for me.

Best gesso on the market if you are looking for a thick gesso. I have used before and it is the only gesso I buy now.
