Works great when you buy the prismacolor pencils and gives the colored pencils a great sharp point. Though sometimes the cartdridge fills up too quickly, I recommend this sharpener to anyone who loves to draw and sketch.

This is the BEST pencil sharpener available! I've used many different types, and this even beats an electric sharpener. Great for colored pencils as well, and doesn't cause the lead to break in cheaper pencils...

This thing is designed so poorly. Not that it doesn't sharpen well -- it does, hence the extra star. But the chamber for shavings is small and narrow, while the cap is nearly as large as the chamber. Why? It could have been half the size without losing any capacity for shavings. And because the chamber is so narrow, the shavings clog quickly. Plus the fact that it's round is a pain: it rolls all over the place. And worst of all, the chamber for the shavings comes off way too easily, spilling your junk all over the place. It's a pencil sharpener, for heaven's sake: design it to do the job! Talk about form before function.

For some reason this guy likes to 'eat' my Prismacolor pencils, but is well behaved for any other kind of pencil I use it to sharpen. It's quite the value for it's quality, so give it a try!

I just 'made do' with other sharpeners until I picked up this Prismacolor one! After I sharpened my first pencil with it, I noticed the difference immediately... this brought my pencils to a much cleaner, sharper point, and the handy shaving catcher made it perfect for traveling sketches.

The point that this gives to pencils of all types is really nice. Often portable pencil sharpeners give a much shorter point surface than you get from a traditional sharpener, but this PRISMACOLOR Sharpener exposes enough lead to make shading with the side of your pencil easy.

I ordered these pencil sharpeners to give to the kids in my midweek religion class since the pencils in the room, also used by others, were always dull. Both the kids and I were so surprised at how well the sharpeners worked. They are amazing and I'm glad I ordered a couple extra for myself to use on my colored pencils. I think I'll just put my elecric sharpener away.

So frustrating! It devours my prismacolor pencils and has cracked 2 of them. Unfortunately when it does cooperate it gives a great sharp point, but not worth losing more pencils.

The PRISMACOLOR OVAL has a GREAT, COMFORTABLE SHAPE, and it SHARPENS WELL..But the rubberized plastic of the casing makes it a bit hard to open one handed :)
