Fredrix Watercolor Canvas Board is a revolutionary new watercolor media made of 100% cotton artist canvas. The unique texture of an all natural woven material in combination with a proprietary patented, specially formulated gesso for all water based paints, delivers a unique new watercolor painting experience and distinctive look that can only be captured on canvas. Will not buckle. Frame with or without glass. Won't tear like paper so you can scratch it, scrape it, or staple it. Wet and rewet it and it will not damage the canvas. Mounted on rigid, non-warping hardboard core. Acid free.

This is a nice product if you want something that does not buckle, and that you do not have to bother stretching and taping like watercolor paper. Its properties are a bit different; some techniques, like layered washes, are more difficult, while other things like color lifting are easier (re-wetting dried paint tends to make the previous layer want to lift, no matter what). On the whole I think this is a very good product for applications where using paper simply isn't feasible. I am planning to use their roll canvas like this for a large project I have coming up.

My first attempt at painting watercolors on this canvas board was very good. I got some good reviews on my flickr on the painting I did. Going to have to get some more. I like the surface.

I found another reason for liking these new watercolor canvasss...Last night I looked at a piece and hated it. Becuse of the sturdy makeup of these canvasses, I rinsed the watercolors off, even scrubbing them off and am now re-working my piece...I could never do this with ordinary paper.

This canvas is a wonder. I have Parkinson's Disease and I do make mistakes. I took a "Mr. Clean Eraser" and with it damp I scrubbed my canvas and used a paper towel to remove the residue. This worked great. Canvas came clean and I can start over again. Wonderful product. Thank you for having this product on your site.

I received the new watercolor canvas boards - they allow my paint to flow better than the Stratford 300 or 400 series do because the paint does not catch on the surface, missing the tiny holes, if you will....even using acrylics,which is all I currently own, it is a good flow; I have ordered some new watercolors, which I am excited about trying....thanks MisterArt.com!

excellent surface, and you can literally wipe off work that you dont like. However, some of the edges are not as sharp as on paper, especially if you blot paint out in some areas, but with touching up the edges with darker hue, you can overcome that drawback
