The Calligraphy Kit comes with a instructional leaflet to help you get started. We do sell books and instructional DVD's on calligraphy as well.

This set is wonderful while traveling on a 64-day Mediterranean Cruise. It is great to have choices of nibs-fine, medium and broad at your fingertips to use with various black lettering styles.

I am delighted to have found the Manuscript Calligraphy set. I had more or less despaired of finding a really good replacement for the Osmiroid pen and nibs I used for so many years, that was lost some years ago. But the Manuscript pen and nibs are excellent in every respect in my opinion; every bit as good as the Osmiroid, and a great pleasure to write with. The thick and thin strokes are clean and distinctive even with the finest nib on moderately rough paper, and the start of the ink flow seems always to be immediate but never too generous. Outstanding.

This is a great calligraphy set. It comes with an extra fine nib, too, which I love for everyday writing use, but the commonly available Schaefer set does not have. It also has an ink converter so you can save money by using a bottled ink. It writes very easily, without "priming". The pen body is not that great, but it works, and you can add your own masking tape sliver around the inner barrel for a little more friction to hold the cap on right. I love this new pen! My old pen was from Osmiroid, which ended up with Manuscript, so this new one is very similar.

As a teacher of italic writing in a local college continuing ed program, I was searching for a cartidge pen that would offer all the benefits of my 30 year old Osmiroid pens: finely crafted nibs that write well each time in a number of interchangable sizes. The Manuscript pen does just that and well. While I would also like it to be a heavier pen barrel, for the money this is a great pen especially for the beginning calligrapher.

My Manuscript pens start writing as soon as I put pen to paper -- I almost never have to "start" on scrap paper. The thin line is very thin, making small letters still delicate. The lines are crisp, with sharp edges at the top and bottom of the stroke. They are comfortable to handle. The pens are very light weight -- I would prefer them a little heavier; that does not seem to affect their comfort or durability. I have used them for about two years. The split-point script nibs are particularly nice to use, giving very impressive results without much risk of spoiling a piece with one of the lines going dry in mid stroke.
