Liquitex Basics Acrylic Gesso provides a smooth, absorbent, finely textured ground for painting. It works well with most porous surfaces, such as canvas, paper, wood, fabric, or plaster.

Basics Acrylic Gesso is flexible, non-yellowing, and non-cracking. One coat of this excellent base coat primer is almost always enough.

I've used this gesso on furniture, boxes, canvas and plain boards. Great adhesion with oil, acrylic and watercolor. Plan on using two coats on unfinished wood for best results. Will cover printed paper with two coats, as well. Great surface texture. And a good deal, to boot!

AS A MURALIST, I NEED LARGE VOLUMES OF PAINT. YEARS AGO, MY ART PROFESSOR HAD US DO A 2 STORY MURAL THAT NEEDED TO STAND UP TO MIAMI, FLORIDA'S, HEAT AND RAIN. WE ADDED HUGE VOLUMES OF GESSO TO EXTEND THE PAINT. SINCE THEN I HAVE TRIED MORE EXPENSIVE VERSIONS OF GESSO FOR THIS PURPOSE AS WELL AS PRIMING CANVAS AND CEMENT BRICK. UNLESS, I AM MISSING SOMETHING, I HAVE FOUND NO DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY. LIQUITEX IS SUPERB.

I'VE NEVER USED ANY TYPE OF GESSO BEFORE, BUT LIQUITEX WAS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ME BY MEMBERS OF MY ONLINE DOLLCLUB~~AND WITH GOOD REASON, AS I FOUND IT TO BE EVERYTHING IT DESCRIBES, AND THEN SOME~~
