Glossies Acrylic Enamel Colors

by Liquitex

Liquitex Glossies are water based acrylic enamels that are specially formulated to adhere to slick non-porous materials like glass, tiles, glazed ceramics, stoneware, china, enamelware, primed metal, and wood.

Glossies air dry to a durable, high gloss finish. They can also be heat set to create a glossy, scratch resistant surface. All Glossies are intermixable and can be blended to achieve any color.

Glossies are non-toxic and contain no solvents. They clean up easily with soap and water. Glossies come in 2-ounce (59-milliliter) jars.

Do you have to use some sort of primer if you are going to paint on glass?

- Asked by Fabiola Rios on 02-Jul-13

You do not need to prime the glass first. Check this website for painting techniques to help you: http://www.liquitex.com/techniques/glossies/

- Answered by MisterArt on 02-Jul-13

What is the best primer and sealer to use on unfinished wood with this product?

- Asked by justine on 12-Jun-13

The best primer and sealer for unfinished wood that I know of is Minwax Polycrylic, found in most hardware stores.

- Answered by MisterArt on 12-Jun-13

Which paint is best for painting on glass jars?

- Asked by carolyn on 30-May-13

This one works very well. It needs to be baked in a home oven to set it.

- Answered by MisterArt on 30-May-13

Can you, without any prep work, apply Liquitex Glossies over an old ceramic piece that is glazed?

- Asked by Rita on 03-Apr-13

The Liquitex Glossies can be used on glazed ceramics. No priming is required, just make sure the surface is clean and dry.

- Answered by MisterArt on 03-Apr-13

Can you put items in the microwave after they have been painted?

- Asked by Kerrie Snyder on 16-Feb-13

The Liquitex Glossies are not microwave safe and should not be exposed heat beyond the setting process.

- Answered by MisterArt on 21-Feb-13

Can you put items in the dishwasher after they have been painted?

- Asked by Kerrie Snyder on 16-Feb-13

The Liquitex Glossies are dishwasher safe when heat-set. When cleaning, do not soak in extremely hot water. Hand wash in warm water with mild dishwashing detergent. Do not wash with scouring cleaners, as they will abrade the surface.

- Answered by MisterArt on 21-Feb-13

After painting on glass, I would like to bake it in the oven. Do I need to wait 24 hrs for it to air dry or can I bake it immediately?

- Asked by Bob Hahn on 09-Nov-12

Yes, allow the paint to dry for 24 hours at room temperature first, then heat to set.

- Answered by MisterArt on 12-Nov-12

I can find these paints in my local big box store, but certainly not at these terrific prices. And shipping only takes 2-3 days. By the way, the paint is great for the refinishing that I do when I am refinishing furniture.

I love Liquitex paints. I have been doing creative painting on glasses for years and Liquitex has the longest shelf life and with a little stirring are always a wonderful smooth texture. It is rare to look at ratings on anything and see five stars across the board. That speaks for itself about the quality of your product. Thanks

I like ordering from Misterart. Great service and great products available to get online.

I bought glossies, and they arrived during freezing weather, and were out on my doorstep all day. I let them warm up to room temp, and they were all fine! By the way, the brown is really brown and not purple, as another review indicated. You just have to shake, shake, shake it! :o) I'll buy again from MisterArt.com!

Good paints. We used them to "spin art" ceramic tiles. They look fantastic. Delivery was fast.

Previous to using Liquidtex Glossies, I had used Plaid Enamels. At first I did not like the Glossies due to watery consistancy BUT have grown to love them and the ability to keep using them over an extended period of time as I paint wine glasses. The baking process seems to really "cook" them on the glass without leaving watery streaks.

Having read favorable reviews about Liquitex Glossies, I ordered several jars in preparation for an upcoming show. I'd previously used a different brand, and was hoping for similarly good results. I found Glossies to be far superior both in luster and application. They mix beautifully in the creation of additional hues. I would happily recommend Glossies to anyone interested in painting on glass! They do dry very quickly, but can be gently scraped off and redone if necessary, prior to baking. I will not hesitate to order more when the time comes. I love 'em!
Rated by: Kay L. in Charleston, SC
These are some very versatile paints. The only fault (remedied by shaking well) is that some colors are alternately thick or thin. They do apply beautifully and dry to an intense gloss.
Rated by: Phyllis Jean G. in Chapel Hill, NC
I got great results using the Liquitex glossies that I recently bought. Particularly fond of the gold, which makes a good finish for hand-painted jewelry. I have used Liquitex products for years, and have been well-satisfied. Switched to a different brand a couple years back. Not a good idea! I highly recommend Liquitex, and I appreciate very much the convenience of buying it online.

I absolutely love this paint. I'm using it on glass and I swear this paint is making me a better artist than I really am. :) Thanks to Mister Art for having such a nice selection of color, too.

I discovered Liquitex glossies enamel about a year ago. I love the versitility of them. You can use them straight from the bottle so that the paint comes out in a thin stream to create a "Jackson Pollock" effect, or you can pour the paint onto a mixing pad and use it with a brush or palette knife as you would any other acrylic paint. It dries into a vivid, glossy finish which is perfect for the type of abstract painting I do.
Rated by: Carolyn B B. in Nashville, GA
The glosses work well and really hold up when the item to be painted is properly prepared ahead of time. I am very pleased with substance and the many colors. The baking process is excellent --- I have used these faithfully for several years and my customers keep coming back!
Rated by: Kelly C. in Camden, NC
By far the best paints anywhere for painting on glass. I went so far as to recommend them on my personal website. They go on like great acrylics, with bold and true color, and with proper care afterwards will last indefinitely. Superior product, astonishing prices. Thank you for a great transaction!

Rated by: Ronit S. in New York, NY
LIQUITEX Acrylic Enamel Color Glossies are extremely easy to work with, the colors are vibrant and shiny when dry. I recommend them, just make sure you wait 24 hours before baking them.

I paint acrylic on canvas in a very bold graphical style that requires smooth scrolling and heavy outline work. Liquitex black glossies have become a staple of my work and are ready to use right out of the container - no alteration necessary. Glossies have a perfect viscosity and flow that is perfect for such outline work.
Rated by: Diane M. in Tewksbury, MA
I'm very pleased with the color selection and the coverage of the Liquitex Glossies. I've been painting glass decorative plates and vases and I love these paints. Once they've been baked, the paint is permanent and has a nice gloss shine to it.
Rated by: Nedra B. in Eagle, ID
I just finished my first glass painting project using Liquitex Glossies. I have only hand washed it once since baking, but that went well. Nothing washed off. So far so good. If you want fine lines in your design, you will need a really tiny tipped brush because the paint is rather thick. I am ready to make another piece. It was fun to do.
Rated by: Sheri B. in Mountain Ranch, CA
I love Glossies and they're not easy to find. I appreciate MisterArt.com making it easy. I like they way they go on thick and not runny. They make my painted glass craft projects look very professional.

The Liquitex Glossy paint is perfect for what I am currently working on. Have tried a lot of different paints, but the "high gloss" is what I had hoped for, and found in this paint. Also, very prompt service after ordering.

Liquitex Glossies, a great product. I use these paints in my buisness, which is painting on glass. It goes on beautifully and the durability is great. My sales have doubled since I began using this mediun. Liquitex is the best I've used and I've tried them all!

Glossies are a WONERFUL product!! As I create handpainted glassware it is important to have faith in the products I use and I have the UTMOST faith in Liquitex Glossies. If you've never worked with them before, be aware that drying time is quick so don't squeeze too much onto your pallette at once. Paint mixes well...durable finish!
