Soluvar Final Picture Varnish Sprays Cans

This is a permanent, removable varnish that protects oil and acrylic paintings and allows for the removal of dirt without damaging the painting underneath. When applied as a final varnish it dries to a clear, non-tacky, water resistant, and hard film that prevents dirt and pollutants from contacting the painting surface.

Soluvar Varnish is self-leveling and will not hold brush strokes. It’s flexible, so it won’t crack from temperature and humidity changes, and it’s also resistant to discoloration.

Soluvar Varnish is available as a liquid in 8 oz. and 32 oz. bottles, and as an aerosol in 13 1/2 oz. spray cans. It's also available in both gloss and matte.

I like mixing the matte and gloss Soluvars for a medium finish. Gives a smooth and tough surface.

I purchased the Soluvar varnish for my art teacher as she had used the last of hers and was upset that she could not find it anywhere in Houston. This was the best that she had ever used and it brought out all the vivid colors in the paintings.

I used the Liquitex Soluvar picture varnish with the gloss finish on a rigid surface. It truly does have a wonderful high gloss finish! It's a bit tricky to apply - be careful not to shake or mix because it bubbles very easily. It is recommended it be applied as a spray but I used a brush. Most of the air bubbles settled after 30 seconds. I gently rebrushed the areas that still had bubbles and found they soon dissipated as well. Clean up is a bit of a task because it's not water soluble. I used the Liquitex rigid surface varnish first as a barrier coat and then applied the Soluvar varnish after 72 hours.
