What an ingenious design! With a cap that both holds the assembly from falling open, and provides a water reservoir wehn repositioned, and three mixing surfaces which fold out so neatly. I am amazed. They might have tried to include a short-handled brush of about No 5 size..but not much room to do it! Bravo!!

The ideal portable watercolor set. The only reason to hesitate buying this product is the price. I have a number of watercolor field boxes of different sizes and configurations that I tote along on business trips, hikes, etc. When I'm carrying a backpack or shoulder bag with a bottle of drinking water, I opt for my midsixe pocket set or double tray pan set with 4 times the color choices of this set. But when I want to just pop something in my pocket on the chance that I'll have time to do a little watercolor sketch or two, this set is the perfect choice. It's well made, with decent paint pans, a small water bottle with a depressed side usable as another mixing surface, a clever and effective configuration, maximized mixing areas for a set this small, and a lid that doubles as a usable water holder--which sets it apart from other pocket sets with water trays too small to be of much use. Though it's a great set, it is somewhat of a mystery why it's so expensive. But if you can afford it, you'll find it the best pocket set available--all things considered.
