Having just tried watercolors on both the smooth and textured board I must say I am hooked! Try it for a different feel and a fresh approach to your work. I won't be giving up the Artistico paper, but certain subjects and small sizes of composition lend themselves well to this board. Washes are not as easy as paper--you have to work extremely quickly and to lay a seamless one down. But the workability in lifting color is unsurpassed by paper.

Very easy to use. first time user, very nice results.I used the black clay board and it came out wonderful, for this first time user.Love the sample pack.

The pastel boards hold pastels exactly where you place them. There is also hardly any smearing. For artists working in layers of fixitive with pastels, these boards can handel a variety of texture and effects.
