Dramatic black and white drawings can be created by scratching through the black coating to expose the white clay surface beneath. I didn't buy this product for myself so I haven't actually used it. My review isn't based on how it works as a product because, I don't know. However, I went specifically looking for solid black scratchboard and was looking a while before finally coming across this website. I even went to a few actual art stores and all they had was the preprinted "sea turtle" or "blue jay" type follow the lines nonsense. My review is so high because they had what I wanted for a reasonable enough price and got it to me in a reasonable enough time. This product and website, for my needs and what I was looking for, met my expectations 100%.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the scratch board I received. I know there is a professional grade that is available but for my purposes this is just fine. When I get more proficient I might go to the expensive grade. Having a great time with animals.!!!

Although not as good as clayboard, this scratchboard has still allowed me to produce some nice work. It's ideal for starting out and getting a feel for scratchboard work.
