These are great, nice toned pages and the surface is very smooth despite being recycled. I am definitely going to buy more of these in the future!

I go through about 1.5 sketchbooks per month, so I always keep extras on hand. This is my favorite for dry media. I love the toned paper making whites and light colored pen/pencils really stand out.

Why is it so hard to find brown paper for artists? I'm rating this "best" because it's just about the ONLY brown sketch book I can ever find, and it really is nice. I use it with charcoal pencils, white chalk and Conte, and it's lovely. For those who want heavier paper, try Canson's "oatmeal" scrapbooks instead. I own and use both.

Well bound, a nice surface (neither too toothy or slick). Especially good with sepia ink or pencil and white pencil or ink as a highlighter.Some pages contain large dark flecks, which some may find distracting. Recycled content is a plus for the eco conscious. It's a shame that these aren't made in larger sizes.

This fine brown paper is exceptional for many reasons expressed by others that have written reviews. However,if you value the life of your work then the really important factor is that it is neutral pH or ACID FREE. And unless poorly cared for will last hundreds of years. And it can be given extended like for a thousand or more years by Paper Conservators in the future. Working on Acid Free paper is like painting on fine linen but is even longer lasting.

This is such a great sketchbook with perfect brown tone paper (smooth but with enough tooth). White pops along with other colors which are reasons I bought it! Great with ink, graphite, color pencils and even some watercolor! Try it out even if you're not use to brown paper, it is recycled and acid free!
