Paper quality is great, unfortunately I purchased the 9x12" spiral bound pads -- for a project where I needed 9x12" sheets. The spiral binding robs 1/4" off of the paper --- not a huge deal ordinarily, but it was a problem for the project I was working on. I found the Strathmore 300 series in the 9x12 tape bound pad to be of equal quality for the work I was doing and much easier to work with.

I love these blocks. I have four of them, so I can do a lot of practice paintings...sure, I throw them away later....but maybe some day I won't.

I love a good cold press block pad, and this is just perfect for tossing in the car, or backpack, and taking along. The four secured sides eliminate the need to stretch the paper, and it is kept taut and doesn't curl up. The surface is very good to work on, and takes reworking techniques with ease. Great value!!!!

The convenience of a watercolor block is multiplied by the number of students I teach in my art classes. Imagine if I had to start taping, stapling etc.! The only complaint I have, that it does not completely get rid of all buckling of the paper. Otherwise, it's great!

I am in LOVE with Strathmore's watercolor block! The edges are waxed together so the paper does not ripple - even if you use a lot of water - Just let it dry while still secured in the pad and it'll flatten out most ripples! Then, when dry, just slip a knife under the edges of the painting to free it from the pad. An awesome idea...worth EVERY penny!
