Other features include a freehand spacer that allows for a quick switch between template and freehand cutting, and a fine tuning dial that adjusts blade depth for different paper thickness and personal preference.

The Ultra ShapeXpress comes with two blades that can be quickly and easily dropped into place. And with the Ultra ShapeXpress’ innovative arm lock, blades can be replaced easily without affecting cutting depth.

I purchased the Fiskars Shape Templates (diamonds). The template is exceptionally easy to use, and the grid is very handy for page layouts! The shapes are conveniently sized to compliment one another. You can easily select two sizes (one for your photo, and one for the mat), and have them perfectly match one another symmetrically.

I am very impressed with this shape cutter. Used with the templates, it is easy to make clean and consistent cuts. I have been using it on thick, textured paper with no problem.
