This handmade art paper is made in rural, mountainous villages in Nepal from the inner bark of the lokta bush. The paper has to travel for five days and five nights, on the backs of donkeys, to reach the nearest passable road. From this point it travels to Kathmandu and, then, the world.
Lokta is a renewable resource, as the bush regenerates from the same root system after being harvested. The paper is tree-free, acid-free and environmentally sound. It is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest papers.
The deckle edge paper is perfect for book binding, lampshades, gift wrapping, mattes for framing, and canvas for painting.
20 in. x 30 in. sheets of natural colored Lokta Paper are available as either lightweight (20 g) or heavyweight (40 g). All other paper is lightweight.
