This will seem like a great upgrade if you have only used small, personal rotary trimmers. As far as full-sized guillotine trimmers go, however, it is the lowest quality unit I have ever used. The plastic...[more]

This will seem like a great upgrade if you have only used small, personal rotary trimmers. As far as full-sized guillotine trimmers go, however, it is the lowest quality unit I have ever used. The plastic body feels thin and cheap. If you are cutting along a printed line you can use the laser to make a reasonably straight cut -- after you fiddle with the hard to reach "calibration" screws to line up the laser properly (the unit I received was not calibrated properly). If you just want to make a straight cut based on a measurement -- good luck! The top edge is curved, so you can't line paper up against it squarely -- the most important feature of any trimmer! I returned this trimmer and replaced it with the 12-inch X-ACTO "Heavy Duty" laser trimmer. The "Heavy Duty" version does not possess any of these defects and is well worth the extra $20.

I've never reviewed any products before, but after receiving and using this trimmer, I had to log on and state my complete satisfaction with this product. That laser line is exactly what I've been wishing for in a trimmer. I'm selling my old cutters on Ebay! This is my last and best trimmer. Easy to use, well marked, and just plain terrific. I think you'll love it, too.
