Product Questions and Answers

Would it work to seal on canvas, such as shoes?

- Asked by Hannah on 29-Oct-13

This should work as it works on most fabrics, however it's always best to do a small test first on another item just to be sure.

- Answered by MisterArt on 31-Oct-13

I have used Sharpie oil-based markers on pleather and now I'd like to seal the marker - would Blair Clear Spray (in gloss) be a good choice?

- Asked by Becca on 20-Jan-13

The Spray Clear by Blair can be used on mounted fabric. The gloss will give the surface a shiny look. If you want the surface to look flat, we would suggest using the matte.

- Answered by MisterArt on 24-Jan-13

Can this be used with pastels?

- Asked by Suzannne Brown on 10-Dec-12

For Pastels, we would recommend using the Very Low Odor Spray Fix by Blair or the Spray Workable Fix by Krylon.

i was making a sand-covered jewelery box for my grand- daughter. after everything was assembled,I finished it off with the spray. As it states, it was clear and works very well.

I use this spray to seal my book covers. They are printed on matte photopaper and must take some handling. It does not spit, dries invisibly. I am ordering more. (I did use an expensive spray recommended by Epson. For me, there is no difference except price.)

I love the product, I use it for all my decorative painting. I hunted around until I found this site. I will return.

I love this product! I have tried many spray finishes but have always been bothered by the smell and concerned about the environment. I preserve my paintings as well as many of the props I make for our local theater.

Wonderful clear for just about any application. Goes on without a hitch and dries nicely even on a cold surface.

I customize model horses and I use a spray sealer to protect the paint. This is an excellent spray for the job.

Blair spray is excellent for topcoating acrylic paints and as a protective finish on bare wood. I use it extensively to finish small wood items that would be difficult to do by brush and on picture frames that have been faux painted. I've found that I prefer the coverage and overall finish of Blair to other brands I've tried. has the best price I've found on this product -- more than $4.00 per can less than I can purchase it locally!
