Product Questions and Answers

I used these markers to paint on a coffee mug but the paint has begun to wear off just from handling. Is there something I can do to make the paint permanent?

- Asked by Rachel on 21-Feb-14

The Decocolor Paint Markers are permanent but not dishwasher-safe or oven-safe. A sealer such as Plaid's Mod Podge dishwasher safe version may help protect the design and increase longevity. Apply to the design only and avoid contact with the rim and interior of the mug as it does not specify this as a food-safe product, only non-toxic. For future designs, consider Porcelaine 150 Markers as they can be heat-set.

Can I use them with Glossies paint and bake the glass like I always do, or will it wash off?

- Asked by barbara on 26-Dec-13

Based on their different properties, we do not recommend using the Decocolor Paint Markers with Liquitex Glossies. Decocolor Paint Markers are oil-based and permanent without baking or sealants; baking is not recommended. The Liquitex Glossies, however, are water-based and baking in a home oven is required for permanence.

Can these markers be used on plastic?

- Asked by Mary on 11-May-13

The Decocolor Paint Markers are not suggested for use on plastic. We would suggest using the Sharpie paint markers instead.
