Can one use retouch varnish on wet oil paint to secure it so a color can be painted over without bleeding? - Asked by Norma on 22-Mar-14
Answer
Damar Retouch Varnish Spray may be used on wet oils for protection and then worked on after the application has dried. It may provide a temporary, thin barrier between layers, but colors underneath the retouch varnish may be affected as painting continues. - Answered by MisterArt on 25-Mar-14Does this retouch need to be removed before painting over? - Asked by Carol ryan on 15-Aug-13
Answer
This varnish is to be applied in very thin layers. Once it is completely dry, you may paint over it. This is not intended as a final varnish. - Answered by MisterArt on 19-Aug-13Is there a resource that can help me to use retouch varnish? - Asked by Linda Rubens on 29-Jul-13

This link offers a good tutorial: http://www.okeefe-arts.com/okeefe-arts_tutorials_winsor-newton-dammar-varnish-1.php - Answered by MisterArt on 30-Jul-13I want to spray retouch varnish on my dry painting in progress. Should I wait more than 30 minutes for it to dry today before painting over it? - Asked by Carol C on 21-May-13
Answer
When the surface of the painting is dry to the touch, one very light coat of retouch may be applied to it for protection against excessive dust. Allow 5 minutes between coats, if heavier applications are desired. - Answered by MisterArt on 23-May-13Can I use retouch varnish to go back on a dry paint to add another color then retouch varnish again? - Asked by Magyar on 13-Jan-13
Answer
Retouch varnish is suggested for use while the paint is still wet. This product will not work if the paint is fully dry. But yes, you can go back on a wet painting to paint again. - Answered by MisterArt on 15-Jan-13Ask a Question About Damar Retouch Varnish Spray
