I bought the stencil cutter for its designed purpose - to cut stencils in mylar material. First off, I would consider this more of a stencil "melter" than a "cutter"... My first stencil came out OK but the second was much better, once I got the feel for how it worked thru the mylar materials (which I also purchased here at misterart.com). Much smoother, faster and easier than razor blades. HINT: I used a plate of glass under the mylar to provide a heat-proof surface for my table - this was part of their instructions and tips.

I'm probably one of the few artists who doesn't use the Lenk Stencil Cutter the way it was meant to be used! A few years ago I began working with hardshell gourds and exploring ways of working designs on the surface that wasn't just painting a design on. The technique I was developing required being able to incise a fine line into the gourd surface, which, while hard, is also somewhat fragile. I found this particular stencil cutter with the BENT cutting tip produced the exact line I needed and at the proper depth and the appearance of the final line didn't look "burned in"... in other words, perfect! Also, as I tend to want to work for severasl hours at a stretch, the smaller handle of the Lenk cutter is much more easier to handle for fine and delicate design work...and I've used this cutter on leather and other surfaces that will accept it, all with no appearance of being burned in at all, just a beautiful fine black or dark line. Some day I amy even cut a stencil with it!

Doesn't cut as clean as I was hoping for but is pretty easy to handle; would be easier if I had a heat-proof base to cut on.

I have been cutting some pretty thick plastic for stencil material with a small stencil knife for a long time. This little stencil cutter is so much faster and cleaner as well as accurate that I can cut about 10 times the material in about a tenth of the time. I simply love it!

Love the product. Comfortable to use. Holds heat.
