Ask a Question

Can I use Amsterdam acrylic paint on fabric like a cotton tee-shirt, and if so do I need to do anything prior to wash the garment?

- Asked by J.T MUKETE on 03-Jun-13

If the garment is new, it does need to be washed to get the sizing out of it. You should also look at the "textile medium" on our sight, and we carry four different brands. The medium is to be mixed with acrylic paint to help it bond to fabric and prevent cracking.

Really decent acrylic paint! I have not tried it since the name brand changed, but if it is anything like Van Gogh, it's good stuff to buy in bulk for large acrylic projects.

Received the Acrylics as ordered. Poor labeling for paint color... black on transparent tape is almost illegible on most colors.

When I first began painting, Van Gogh was the only acrylic paint available. They proved to be just perfect for me. When I moved and other brands were available to me, I found that I kept using Van Gogh colors regularly as they were thick enough to keep the shape of the texturing I use. They also carry some colors that I have trouble finding elsewhere. I love them.

As a painting "beginner" I thought this product was affordable & great! The color came out really nice & was easy to paint with. So far I've only painted on canvas boards so, I can't wait to start using my Van Gogh acrylic paints on canvas!

I began painting with these paints because they were so economical, but have come to love the color palette, and for me, the texture is just right. Not too thin, not too thick. Can't find them in stores here. Thank you for carrying them, and quick shipping.

I was very pleased with the paints that I purchased. They go on smoothly and hold their color well. All my clients love the art work that I do and the richness of the colors I use. I will continue to buy Van Gogh acrylic paints and the price is good also.

This stuff is okay. I will use it in a bind, but Liquitex is better.

This is a great line of paints that you have. They work well in all the applications that I have used them in. You can be sure that I will be ordering more.

These are top quality paints. I enjoy working with them and get good results using them. They cover all my needs in the painting that I do.
Rated by: Jennifer D. in Corona, CA
The quality of this paint is not the best, however it's not bad for the price. The problem with the paint is that it's kind of thin. I would recommend this paint for practice use or student projects, but not for professional use, the quality is just not there.
Rated by: Kelly O. in Port Hueneme, CA
I recommend Van Gogh for any skill level of painting. Great quality.

I have used this paint in many works, and love how it moves with the brush not just stay in one place. for anyone who is looking for a good paint i would say they would have to have this paint in theyre paint box

I absolutely found them awesome!

I have been an Oil painter for years, and am switching to acrylics, I am very happy to be able to work Wet-in- wet with these paints , I have to admit. I do work fast, but still have time to get the acidental mixes that only wet-in-wet painting can do!
Rated by: Steven S. in Inverness, FL
As always MisterArt sent me what I ordered on time and with no mistakes. I would have given the highest rating except... I bought this order for someone else and didn't get to use it myself. Keep up the good work.
Rated by: Virginia S. in Napoleon, OH
I love the bright colors of Talen's Van Gogh acrylic paints. I like a picture that stands out with bright colors and Van Gogh paints let it happen.
Rated by: Renee . in Holly Springs, MS
Good student grade acrylics..I use them for studies and for the lessons with students as they are inexpensive, nice colors, easy to blend for the students.
Rated by: Abbey O. in Bethany, WV
These are nice paints. They aren't as thick as most of my other paints, but they are nice to work with. They would be good if you want to use acrylic like watercolor.
