400 Series Bristol Pad

Acid-free. When the longevity of cotton fibers is not required, both intermediate and professional artists recommend the 400 Series Bristol. The toothy texture of the regular (vellum) surface works well with pencil, charcoal and pastel. The smooth surface is ideal for detailed ink work and is also suited for pencil and marker. Both surfaces are excellent for airbrush. Tape bound so sheets can be easily removed, and sheets will have smooth, straight edges. 2 ply thickness (115 pounds), 15 sheet pads.

This pad works really well for both pencils and pen, and has very easily removable pages... add to that the reasonable price, and this is very likely the bristol pad I will be buying a lot more often!

Vellum is wonderful to work with! This is the second drawing done on vellum with art pencil & ink tense water colour pencils. Such a smooth surface, easily accepts.

this paper takes a good deal of erasing and reworking with a pencil. my favorite bristol series is 500, but this is a good everyday bristol.

This is the BEST paper for doing high detail pencil work. It erases like a dream, and takes a crisp dark line as well as soft strokes and blending. I have been looking for this paper since I used it once years ago and forgot the maker and exact type. I suppose I went through 20 or so different papers till I 'rediscoverd' 400 Series Bristol. Try it, you won't want anything else for pencil medium.

Great paper for photo realist charcoal drawings. I love the smooth dense surface and the thickness of the paper. Even when sprayed with fixative the paper does not curl when dried.

This is the best paper I have found for fine, soft pencil detailing like I do in my portraits. The surface is nice and smooth. I smooth my pencil with tissue and totillions. I have tried other brands, but this is the smoothest you can get without stepping up to 'plate' finish, which is far more expensive. This paper is also suitable for other art mediums, like markers. I am very pleased with it and have ordered a lot of it over the last few years.
