Good paper for pastels, conte, or charcoal. Would like it to be a little heavier, good color range.

Wonderful paper, the best I have ever worked with for the charcoal drawings I do. The texture is heaven, you can erase when you need to (as long as you don't rub it into the paper really hard) and it holds the truly black areas well. The only downside, it doesn't come any bigger than this. Hey strathmore, how about 32 x 40 sheets?

Fine product for sketching out ideas in pastel. MisterArt had the three different sized pads to me in a flash before a working holiday! Good folks, fine products.

I use these charcoal pads for life drawing. The poses vary from 1 minute to 45 minutes. I tend to work in conté crayon with pastel accents, and the pads fit me fine both in color selections, surface, durability and archival qualities. In other words, the paper is good enough for those sketches that I want to preserve and to frame.

I found the paper to be of very good quality, however I wish black and white would be included, especially black. The fact that colors are selected randomly 8 out of 10, caused a slight problem when I purchased these for my students; sometimes they did not all have the same shades. For heavier weight paper, I found the Strathmore 300 series Colored Art pad better,(the price is cheaper too!) but those papers are completely random. They are closeouts-whatever they have at the time.

This is one of THE best/affordable papers on the market for charcoal, with just the right amount of "tooth" and a fair assortment of paper tints. My favorite is the wonderful blue-greenish tint that seems to be extremely versitile for any subject. But that's not all! This pad has flesh tones, grays, blues, and browns that I also love. This pad is also exceptionally great for Conte Crayon, pastel, and graphite. When I know that what I will work on is going to be matted and framed, I choose something like this that is archival and looks great year after year....and what a price!
