I bought this pencil sharpener for my husband as a surprise for his woodworking shop. He was always complaining of having to use a knife to sharpen his pencils. When he saw the sharpener and used it for the first time, he was so thrilled. He didn't even know there was such a thing. I received gold stars myself that day.

This is an addendum to the review immediately below. While the sharpener works well on General's pencils, it may not work so well on other brands, which may not be quite the same size.

This works pretty well. Produced a good point. On brand-new pencils that you are sharpening for the first time it is a little difficult to sharpen. That's why I gave it four stars insated of five. But it's faster and easier than sharpening with a knife, at least for me, and it works better than another, differently designed flat-point sharpener (more like a regular pencil sharpener, but with a wider hole) that I bought before this one.

This actually works great! I was surprised at how easy this is to use. Sharpens quickly and evenly.
