*The* lead holder. Clutch works great. Feels nice in the hand.

One of the best leadholders on the market. Pocket clip keeps it from rolling off the table (remove it if you don't mind picking it up-the fall won't hurt it). With the pencil pointer on the end cap you'll never use sand paper again. Nice balance, nice grip. Nice price. Only one I've seen better is the Staedtler 782, same as 780C but slightly thicker in the center, non removable clip. Have a couple of these over 30 years old. 782 has been off the market for years.

I use this lead holder to hold non-photo blue leads and I like it very much; it is comfortable and natural to draw with, easy to extend the lead precisely as much as desired, and very sturdy-feeling.

I bought 7 of these to go with each of the different leads. I love these pencils.

In my opinion the Staedtler Mars 780 Leadholder is the best on the market today. It is the epitome of quality and precision in a deceptively simplistic design. It's very lightweight and comfortable, which is useful to the artist's hand. The pencil itself is extremely well balanced because its center of gravity is located at the front end of the pencil, near the drawing surface - which is where it should be. It is equipped with a metal finger grip that, while not extremely rough, is textured for control and prevention of slipping. The three-prong clutch mechanism is particularly strong and grooved for additional lead support. The pencil comes with a metal pocket clip (which I remove so the pencil feels even more comfortable to me). This leadholder also comes with an integrated lead pointer built right into the push button cap. It's small but handy and a precision peice of engineering all its own. Staedtler 2mm drawing leads are able to be sharpened to needle sharp points. I use an HB lead in my leadholder almost exclusively when drawing - it's a nice medium range lead that is neither too hard nor too soft and offers a wealth of tonal value when the right pressure is applied. The joy of this one particular pencil is that it gives u all of the advantages of traditional pencils (wood and mechanical alike) with none of the disadvantages and then a whole lot more. This is a great tool for quick, bold pencil sketches or extremely detailed drawing. I rate this product 10/10. It's an amazingly versatile tool and the only pencil I need.

Very well made lead holder. Very convenient for the field, since you can carry a number of leads to slip into it for drawing--and all of them take up little space and are obviously very light weight.
