Customer Product Reviews

Rated by: Janeann in Southeast Alabama
I was really excited to read about this product. I use hardboard that I prime myself to paint in oils and acrylics. Therefore I thought this would be ideal for my use. I bought the 5 X 7 size to experiment with and I have mixed reviews. Pro: colors dry vivid, no need to matt or apply a sealer, does not buckle as paper would. Texture is like cold press paper. Cons: I washed the surface prior to using per the included instructions. I was using a soft brush and did not use hard strokes. Pieces of the edges came off. I want my work to last a lifetime and now I will worry will the clay chip away with age or humidity? I used clean water but plain water and watercolors look brown tinged. I changed water and brushes but it is the nature of the clay coating to look brownish. When it dries it is true to color. An artist cannot judge their color application WHILE painting. Photographing the work afterwards, I had to play with camera settings to assure that the gritty texture of the clay did not appear on the image.
