Product Questions and Answers

Can this paint be applied to the bottom of crocheted socks? Can it be washed, dried and ironed after drying on the fabric?

- Asked by Angela Oasquariello on 27-Feb-14

Yes, this puffy paint could be applied to the bottom of socks. Allow to dry for 4 hours. Heat-set with an iron on steam setting held above the paint. Do not touch directly with the iron. After heat-setting, it is machine washable.

- Answered by MisterArt on 28-Feb-14

When do you use the hairdryer to puff it? Wet or dry?

- Asked by Mama Bear on 30-May-13

Here are the directions from the manufacturer: Let dry flat for 4 hours; Preheat iron to hottest steam setting (steam activates the paint); Hold iron above paint, but not touching it; and steam until paint rises. Wait at least 72 hours before washing, so no mention of a hairdryer.

I would like to use this paint to write words and dates on an acrylic plastic picture frame. Will the solvent inside be a problem and dissolve the plastic?

- Asked by Mr. Beatty on 20-May-13

The acrylic plastic surface would be too slick for the Puffy paint to adhere to.

- Answered by MisterArt on 23-May-13

Is there any way to remove it from a wooden desk once dried?

- Asked by indygirl on 03-May-13

Theses paints are formulated for strong adhesion on wood. You can try to scrape the paint off or use a paint thinner to remove it, but it will likely affect the desk and wood underneath.

- Answered by MisterArt on 08-May-13

Is this paint machine-washable?

- Asked by jan w on 25-Mar-13

The Puffy Dimensional Fabric paints are permanent once heat set. You can machine wash on gentle cycle with warm water using a mild soap. Turn the fabric inside out before washing. Using fabric softener will keep designs flexible. Line dry, do not put fabric in a dryer. Iron only from the inside or back side of fabric. Never touch the paint directly with an iron.

I just purchased Tulip Puff Paint. Can the manufacturer get the directions any smaller???? Who and how is a person supposed to read this microscopic print? Really?? And trying to get the shrink plastic wrap off the bottle is more than challenging. It's almost impossible! It took me 20 minutes to remove this wrapping. I only hope I didn't waste my money on these bottles.

Delivery was fast as always but the paint itself has to be heated to puff up and when you do heat activate the paint turns off color. Not that big of an issue though, it still got the job done.

DUNCAN Tulip Puffy Dimensional Fabric Paint is a wonderful product. I actually used it on a giant posterboard cake that I was making to decorate my classroom. When the paint was "puffed" it gave the "cake" a great dimensional feel and look. I've had several people tell me how they just want to run their finger through my "frosting" to take a taste. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because I couldn't get it to puff with my iron as it stated in the directions on the bottle. I ended up using my craft heating tool and that worked fabulously. I would recommend the Duncan Puff Paint to add dimension to any creatively appropriate project!

I have painted tee shirts with this product and have had rave reviews from the people that are in the retirement home with me. I like using the product very much.
