I've been using Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Technical Pens since 1969. My aunt bought me my first set when I was 12 and I have used them daily ever since. I love the fact that I can mix my ink colors to match my watercolor or my wardrobe and use "Pelikan Drawing Ink A" almost exclusively. Though the inks made by Koh-I-Noor and Winsor Newton are satisfactory. If you are a beginner, I would NOT recommend purchasing anything smaller than an 0 (0.35 mm). Even as a professional I find cleaning a 4x0 to be a challenge. I work most often with a 2x0, and find them to produce the smoothest flow, if kept clean.

i bought pen in a smallest size available (twice) and it clogged despite cleaning using Koh-I-Noor tool. In fact it sitting in cleaning solution forover a week now and still clogged. While I like consistet line it is not worth mony as it worked for me only for 2 days before it clogged (and it happened twice)

With the discontinuation of the Rapidoliner tech pens, these are the next best alternative. They come in many useful sizes and are quite reliable. I give a sound endorsement, and this comes from over 25 years of using all types of tech pens.

I have used and enjoyed KOH-I-NOOR technical pens previously...I am doing some drafting now and was glad to find this source. Excellent pens

The ONLY technical pen to use! I have been a pen and ink illustrator for over 20 years, and I have relied on Koh-I-Noor. They are the highest quality pens I have ever used.

These pens are great. All the guides that i read over the Internet about cleaning these pens made me a little hesitant about getting a tech pen, but now that i think about it, most of them are exaggerated. A lot of them will say that "it's a pain in the butt cleaning these pens", "it's not worth the trouble" and all these, but the thing is, i'd recommend that you get the Koh-i-noor syringe bulb cleaner. If you're willing to spend $55-60 for a pen set, $17 for a tool to clean them is definately worth it. The ink flow in these pens are good. You don't have that "snaggy" feeling that you get with a disposable pigment liners. You know, that feeling that a pigment liner have when you run it really slow across a page. Of course this increased ink flow means that it is more susceptible to smearing especially with the bigger nibs. is great. My order went out the same day they received it.

I rec'd the pens in great packaging. After loading three of them I went to making some star charts for an Astronomy class. The pens worked so smoothly and produced such uniform lines I was pleased no end. Even after two weeks of non-use, they fired right up and delivered the same great looks to the lines and small circles. They operate silk-smooth and are a pleasure to work with.

I bought the 7 pen set seven years ago. I haven't had either a clogged pen, bent nib, or replacement nibs. I teach pen and ink, with watercolor. My beginning students start off with the disposable Grumbacher 3 pen set, then they go through a technique class in which I teach them how to care for their pens and what strokes to use for each nib. All my students have moved on to the technical pen with ease. Inking is sooo much fun with the technical pens!

I splurged and bought a whole set and was afraid I would regret it because I don't get to draw every day and I would spend more time cleaning and unclogging than drawing. But I've had these pens filled for six months, I use them once or twice a week. Smooth lines, no clogging and with the whole set I can pick up exactly what I need for each drawing. The colored bands makes it easy to learn which pen is which at a glance.
