I am a calligrapher. My client needed a periwinkle blue ink to match her invitations. I mixed violet, blue and white to acquire the perfect shade. The ink stayed mixed and did not need to be stirred very often.

Excellent colors. Bright. Clear. Permanent. Jewel like. I am enjoying these inks.

These inks are excellent for airbrushing. I also use them as a 'wash' to age buildings in dioramas.

The Dr. PH Martin Bombay Inks are superb for the particular purpose that I am using them for, which is to provide saturated, jewel colored washes to specialty/art papers to use as a background for further treatment. These inks combine nicely with other ink and paint media, don't smudges or smear, and are equally easy to use with quill pens and paint brushes. I love the colors!

I bought this ink for scrimshaw work and it seems to work great and hold up to abuse.
Rated by: Renee . in Holly Springs, MS
very opaque. works well with pen or stamps
Rated by: Susanne W. in Fargo, ND
Love it! I used this ink to do the calligraphy on wedding envelopes--the envelopes were handmade paper. The ink worked quite well.
Rated by: John P. in Redding, CA
Excellent, rich, deep opaque colors. Dr. Martin's Bombay inks deliver where others do not either due to quality or that when the colors are only offered as transparents and opacity is needed. It holds to the pen tip without dripping, dries quickly, is water proof after drying, and doesn't bleed out on the surface or over any lines when using multiple colors. I had no problems inking in my illistrations. I hope to see additional Dr. Martins inks (such as the irridescent inks) offered in the nearing future to incorporate into future projects.
Rated by: Faye H. in Powhaten, VA
I was amazed at the vividness of the Dr. PH. Martin's Bombay India Ink. I got the 3 primary colors and am looking forward to ordering more colors.
Rated by: Pat V. in Spring Branch, TX
This product is great. It is just what my customers are looking for and comes in all the colors they want.
Rated by: K B. in Denver, CO
I am obsessed with this ink. I love every color I have and am thrilled with the opacity of the white and black. I didn't have any feathering or bleeding - and it's a great consistency. This ink has become a staple in my art.
Rated by: Michele C. in Staten Island, NY
I address 300-400 envelopes per week, and this is the only ink I use. It flows nicely, never drips or clumps. I can mix the colors to customize, and it is waterproof. Sometimes the white gets thick if you don't shake it often enough, but it's a small sacrifice for a great product!
Rated by: josh h. in port townsend, WA
great for airbrushing. tends to clog a little but when thinned properly, produces nice dark marks with little to no clogging
Rated by: Wendy J. in Middletown, NY
The violet and red inks flow nicely from dip pens. Ink did not feather on various types of paper.
Rated by: Pat A. in Springfield, IL
Good quality, long lasting color integrity. The white does have a propensity to dry out rather quickly.
Rated by: Jonathan T. in Pierre, SD
I only tried Dr. Ph. Martin Bombay since I could not say “No” to these prices! These folks beat the daylights out of Dick Blick. for value and variety. Concerning the inks, I found Winsor and Newton's inks to be glossier and easier to control. I believe it's just a matter of personal taste.
Rated by: Jackie I. in Newark, DE
The brown ink flowed nicely when writing. I was a little more transparent than I had hoped for and left dark spots where the pen first and last touched the paper. It dried up on my pen nib quite fast and I had to dip it often. I wasn't that thrilled working with it, however the customer loved how all her wedding envelopes came out.
Rated by: Eling C. in Lexington, MA
Brilliant colors, smooth line. Easy-to-use, quick-drying. Excellent product. Highly recommended!
Rated by: Alida S. in Springfield, MA
Brilliant, smooth and fluid colors, useful for a lot of applications. Excellent purchase.
Rated by: Corinne L. in New York, AE
I've ordered several of these inks, and I have found them easy to use with the pen that I ordered. They're easy to clean off of the pen tips and smooth writing. It doesn't run on paper, or leave large splotches.
