Are these acid-free mats?

Answer

Essentially, yes. The expression "pH neutral" or "buffered" means that the natural acids from wood are balanced with alkalides to give the board permanency up to 1,000 years, which is what "acid-free" also does. In order for a paper to claim it is acid free it must be made with a PH balance of 6 or 7 (neutral) at the time of manufacturing. Museum-grade paper or canvases, for example, are often made from cotton rag, and not wood. Conservation grade is made from wood, but is balanced.

Do the Logan pre-cut mats include backing sheets?

These pre-cut mats come shrink-wrapped with a chipboard insert. Backing is not included.
