Crayola Air-Dry Clay is a fine, natural earth clay available in white and terracotta that air-dries to a hard solid. This clay can be used to make clay sculptures, decorative items, or plaques. No baking or firing is needed!

Just add water to soften or join pieces. Crayola Air-Dry Clay works with traditional techniques (coil, slab, pinch, score-and-weld). You can even use rubber stamps or textured materials to make impressions, or press beads, small stones, or other decorative items directly into clay.

Large, thick pieces may be carved with clay tools. Thoroughly dry pieces may be painted with tempera, acrylic, or watercolor.

Crayola Air-Dry Clay comes in a resealable plastic tub for safe storage.

Product Questions and Answers

What happens to this clay after it dries and hardens if it is then subject to flowing water?

- Asked by Tom M on 06-Sep-13
Answer

The Crayola Air-Dry Clay will not work for your project. Constant exposure to water will cause the clay to soften.

- Answered by MisterArt on 09-Sep-13

What is the difference between this clay, Model Magic, and modeling clay?

- Asked by Melodie on 05-May-13
Answer

The Crayola Air-Dry Clay is a fine, natural white earth clay that air-dries to a hard solid. The Model Magic Clay is a spongy modeling material that dries permanently in 24 hours. The modeling clay is used to create three-dimensional molds and does not harden for hours of use.

My clay was very useful, and I put it to work a lot; however, after a month, you could tell it was drying out. It's as hard as a rock now. I reccomend getting a smaller container to use in a small period of time!
Rated by: Cub scout mom in Pennsylvania
I was hesitant to buy at first because it seemed too easy. Since it had the Crayola band name and I thought they would not put out just any old thing it must work. Although it is easy to work with even for kids, once it is dry it is brittle and crumbles easily. I'm not impressed and will never buy it again.

The Crayola Air Dry Clay was great to use with my cubscouts. They enjoyed using their imagination. It was nice that I didn't have to bake it. They enjoyed painting them after they dried.

This clay is great, it is and does everything it says on the container and more. It is so much fun to play with! Even a preschooler can make something with it . It would be great to make hand prints for gifts! Great stuff.
